Cybersecurity - Old news or New Frontier?

Kat McDevitt - Monday, November 26, 2018
Ernst & Young’s Global Information Security Survey 2017 revealed that 60 percent of organizations are unlikely to detect a sophisticated cyber-attack and 65 percent lack the skilled resources to handle them. As an IT Manager, if you do not have Cybersecurity high up on your priority list for 2019, be aware that those in charge of governance at your organisation will have it near the top of their list of risk factors.

Security within an organisation requires a multi-layered approach as threats to data can come from external and internal means. From the cloud, through your network edge and into your core infrastructure the threats are real and continually evolving. The global threat of cybersecurity is driving a different outlook on security planning for the upcoming years.

The change in approach from Protection to Prevention is a way to bolster your cyber defences as threats become more and more sophisticated. Utilising machine learning and AI to look at user behaviours across your entire environment helps identify suspicious or abnormal behaviour that can then be assessed from a risk perspective.

Do you have skills and available resources to monitor and manage this internally? Can you afford to divert focus off your core business to deal with the cyber security threat? Talk to the technology experts at Trident Computer Services about a Managed Security Service.
